Eat and listen your way from Kerala to Kayts as BBC Asian Network’s Ashanti Omkar presents a culinary and musical journey through South India and Sri Lanka.
Working with young British Asian musicians to create the musical backdrop, and supper club chef Suhanya to tantalise the tastebuds, Ashanti brings this region to life, in this special event for Alchemy.
Enjoy a drink and traditional nibbles, before sitting down to a banana leaf meal to sample the food of the region, accompanied by traditional live music.
With discussions around the food and music built in, this one-of-a-kind evening brings the river banks of Sri Lanka and South India, to the River Thames.
The event is for guests 18 & over. Alcoholic drinks are available to purchase from a cash bar.
Dietary requirements
While the organisers will do their best to accommodate dietary requirements, there is a set menu for this event. Please email Alchemy your dietary requests at least one week before the event. Email: alchemyfood@southbankcentre.co.uk
The event is part of the annual Alchemy festival hosted at the Southbank centre in London. The festival returns from 19 – 29 May, showcasing the dynamic creativity and cultural connections between South Asia and the UK. Over ten days, Southbank Centre is enlivened with contemporary dance, performance, music and literature from international and British artists.
