A proud moment for a Tamil chef flying high on the global stage. Fortnum & Mason’s executive chef, Prem Appadurai, honoured by Disciples of Escoffier.

A big moment for London’s Tamil community and for Tamil chefs around the world — Fortnum & Mason’s Executive Chef, Prem Appadurai, was officially inducted into the prestigious Disciples of Escoffier in London last night, alongside other notable chefs.
Born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Prem’s journey has taken him from the bustling kitchens of Harrods to the heights of Dubai’s Burj Al Arab, and now to leading one of Britain’s most iconic establishments, Fortnum & Mason.

Founded in 1954, the Disciples of Escoffier brings together chefs and food lovers from across the globe in honour of the legendary Auguste Escoffier, often called the “King of Chefs and Chef of Kings.” With over 20,000 members worldwide, the society is dedicated to preserving his legacy and inspiring the next generation of culinary talent through education and apprenticeship.
