DJ Rob R : From UK to Sri Lanka via Singapore

A diaspora Tamil entrepreneur, DJ & music producer, has returned to his country of birth to reconnect with his roots.

Born in Jaffna and raised in London, Robert Rajeswaran aka @rob_r_music , has had a enthralling journey that has taken him full circle – from war torn northern Sri Lanka, to the UK, a stint in Singapore and finally back to his motherland.

From child refugee, to investment banker and international serial entrepreneur, Rob R as he’s known to his fans, is now a famed DJ based in southern Sri Lanka. He has clocked up millions of views on his viral reels, DJing in picturesque locations across the island.

Amongst London’s Tamil community, Robert was known for his passion for fitness and entrepreneurial flair, establishing “GoCode”, a coding academy based in South Harrow. Wanting a change of scenery, Robert relocated to Singapore where he set up a hospitality merchandising company with offices in Singapore and Spain.

Rob R’s passion for DJing was sparked during his travels to events, parties, and festivals around the world. It was in Singapore, amidst the underground music scene, that his interest in DJing deepened. He took this passion seriously, honing his skills at DJ schools in Singapore and Barcelona, and through countless hours of practice at home and in front of the crowd.

He has a unique talent for blending ethnic sounds with modern electronic beats, creating a soulful connection that resonates with his audience. His style has evolved to specialise in Afro, tribal, and Indian house music.

Rob has played to audiences across India, Vietnam, and southern Sri Lanka. In October 2023, he relocated to the southern coastal town of Ahangama, in the Galle district, a popular destination for beach loving tourists. Now on his European tour, Rob is playing in London on Sunday 1st September 2024 at Camden’s Love Shack.
