“Save Our Sisters” aka the Abused Goddesses campaign is an an anti-sex trafficking initiative from India. A beautiful set of three award winning print ads created by Taproot, an Indian ad agency captures India’s most dangerous contradiction: that of revering women in religion and mythology, while the nation remains incredibly unsafe for its women citizens.
The adverts depict Hindu Goddesses Saraswati, Durga & Lakshmi battered & bruised to spread a strong message against domestic violence. Last year alone 244,270 crimes against women were reported in India.
The prints were inspired by old hand paintings of the goddesses, recreated by Taproot using actressess & probs, then repainted to give the feel of an authentic oil painting.
Save Our Sisters (SOS) is an initiative of Save the Children India that works to prevent the trafficking of young girls and women for purposes of commercial sexual exploitation.
