Who are One child Foundation (OCF)
One child Foundation (OCF) charity was born as a small private sponsorship programme eight years ago by a small group of friends and family members keen to help the orphaned and destitute children.
The initial aim was to provide funds from members’ earnings to sponsor a handful of children. With the support of more and more friends and family members, the number of children sponsored grew over the years.
One child Foundation is committed to two main aims:
Relieve Childhood Hunger among the destitute children in Sri Lanka
Offer Education as the most effective way to escape their cycle of deprivation
Over the years it has grown to benefit numerous children. Thanks to the corporate sponsors, private donations and sponsorships from individuals with our Trustees; determined efforts, the number of children OCF help and sponsor keeps on growing.
At present OCF:
Help to feed approximately 11,500 children in over 100 schools in all 8 islands of Kayts and in Madhu District working with UN World Food programme.
Fund the education of 224 children, 220 of them are in 16 schools and 4 are undergraduates in four different universities.
In 2016 and 2017, funded a farm in an orphanage which is currently providing all the vegetables and milk to all the children’s need in that orphanage.
Even though OCF work mostly with Catholic Schools and orphanages, it has no religious, ethnic or communal preferences in choosing the children it help. To OCF, they are all children. They are all our children.
Solemn Promise
Every Pound donated by OCF sponsors and supporters goes to the needy children. No administrative expenses of any kind is ever charged to the charity.
All travel and hotel expenses incurred while committee members visiting the children, which is done at least once a year, are paid out of the Trustees’ own pockets.
