London based Veechu have a new Tamil Street-food stall (serving dishes from Sri Lanka & South India) in Brick Lane, famous for its abundance of Bangladeshi restaurants, fashion & lifesyle markets. You can find them on Sundays at Upmarket in the Old Truman Brewery.
Sunday Upmarket first opened its doors in September 2004, housing more than 140 creative traders selling everything from fashion & art to street food from across the globe. It is undoubtedly one of London’s most exciting and imaginative markets, attracting thousands of Londoners and tourists, especially during the summer months.
The bustling food area recently had a stall claiming to serve authentic Sri Lankan street food. It went unchecked for over a year, misleading visitors into consuming a dismal selection of North Indian & Bangladeshi dishes! After numerous complaints from disgruntled customers the stall was shut down.
Thankfully Veechu has now filled the void!
They have Kothu Roti, chopped Roti with vegetables & curried meat. Try their Mutton kothu, a vegan version and their popular cheesy chicken.
They also sell Masala Thosai (Or dosa). The paper thin, South Indian savoury crepe is going down a treat with Vegans.
They are working hard to introduce Sri Lankan & Tamil cuisine to London’s foodies!
