London to Sri Lanka by bike

A couple from the UK are embarking on a journey to raise money to help children in the war ravaged regions of Sri Lanka. On Sunday 3rd August they begin their challenge cycling from London to Sri Lanka! 26 year old Paul Snuggs and Leanne Pemberton have taken on this challenge to fund-raise for KickStart, a charity which uses sports as a tool to help the children, including thousands of Tamil orphans in the North & East of Sri Lanka. They will be riding across 17 countries and pedaling 12000 Km. The whole journey is expected take around 9 months.

”We are Paul and Leanne and in August 2014 we are setting off on a bike journey from London England to Sri Lanka. It was last year while eating breakfast on a sunny veranda in Cornwall we decided we both wanted more from life, we wanted to do so something a bit different together.

After working hard and renovating two properties this gave us the opportunity to fund this once in a lifetime trip! Starting in London cycling across Europe, through the Middle East, into India following the west coast down to Sri Lanka, A total of 17 countries whist raising as much money as we can for Kickstart an established charity founded by close friends. All of the money we raise will go towards the charity, our cycling trip and spending money is funded by us and our own hard work and savings.”

KickStart is an innovative project which uses sports as a rehabilitation tool to help children affected by the devastating Civil war, to find new energy, hope and positive outlook in life. The War in Sri Lanka took a heavy toll on its people, most traumatised of all victims are children and youth.
