Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal celebrated her birthday earlier this week, where the beautiful singer turned 29. Best known for her Hindi songs, Shreya has also had numerous hits in Assamese, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Gujurati, Kannada, Marathi, Odiya, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Nepali.
The Bengali born singer won the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest, an Indian Singing contest that was aired in India as a child in the children’s version and as an adult and began her playback singing career with the Hindi film "Devdas" as well as dubbing the female lead Aishwarya Bachchan’s voice for the film.
As our Throwback Thursday we decided to choose Shreya’s first South Indian song. The singer made her debut in the South with the Tamil film "Album" which was directed by Vasanthabalan with music by Karthik Raja. Her song "Chellame Chellam" which she sang with Hariharan was a hit track even though the film was a huge flop. The song was well received and was continuously played on all South Indian channels. From there on, the "Munbe Va" singer was the most wanted female singer all over India churning out hit songs one after another.
The entire team at Thamarai.com would like to with Shreya Ghoshal a belated Happy Birthday. We hope you enjoy her debut track in Tamil here: http://youtu.be/3X5rFOGMJvY
