Track of the Week #20

This week’s Track of the Week is from upcoming Malayalam film "KQ" starring former Miss India World, Parvathy Omanakuttan, and directed by Baiju Johnson.

The music has been taken care of by Stephen Devassy, and the soundtrack features a good variety of genres and singers. Our chosen track is "Chendhalire", with vocals by Benny Dayal and Shakthisree Gopalan. Benny is a well-known playback singer all over India, and we were excited to see that his independent track "Swaasamum Neeye" produced by Charles Bosco has been nominated for an award at the MTV Video Music Awards, India. Shakthisree Gopalan became hugely popular after she sang for the song "Nenjukulle" for Mani Ratnam’s latest film "Kadal". Although she has provided vocals for a handful of  Tamil film tracks since 2008 – including "En Uchimandai" from "Vettaikaran" – it was her live performance with AR Rahman on MTV Unplugged that really shot her into the limelight.

We’re loving the Middle Eastern feel in "Chendhalire", and the beat is ridiculously catchy! Check it out below:
