Food is their life and a language they are at ease with. So what better way to tell their story than through food?

So much more than just a cookbook, HANDMADE tells the stories of 34 women of Sri Lanka, in the time of war, before and after, through food.

With beautifully transcribed stories and exquisite photography, HANDMADE, gives you the opportunity to engage with these women, to be inspired by their creativity and strength, and to savour new foods.

HANDMADE is a 250 page coffee table book which was produced by Palmera, a grassroots not for profit organization strengthening economic opportunities & building thriving village economies for rural entrepreneurs & young people. And we’re pleased to say 100% of all profits from the sales of HANDMADE will be reinvested in rural women entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka.

HANDMADE brings us closer to women we may never know. Women who are brave and have a story worth telling, through food worth sharing.
