We’re going up North to Bollywood for this week’s Throwback Track, for a song from 80s hit film "Himmatwala" starring Jeetendra and Southern beauty Sridevi in the lead. The film was Sridevi’s 4th Hindi film, and marked a turning point in her career up North. "Himmatwala" was a remake of 1981 Telugu film "Ooriki Monagadu".
Now, the 1983 Hindi version is being remade in Bollywood again, this time starring Ajay Devgn. Actress Tamannaah, who is hugely popular in the Southern film industries, will be making her Bollywood debut with this film, which is being directed by Sajid Khan. Interestingly, the 2013 version sees an updated version of a song from the 80s version – "Naino Mein Sapna", or "Tathaiya Tathaiya" as it is more often referred to. The song has been choreographed by top Bollywood choreographer Farah Khan, and Tamannaah will be seen in outfits similar to what Sridevi wore in the original.
Check out the video for the original song below. We can’t wait to see the 2013 version!
