Vinay Rai and Australian Tamil actress Vimala Raman in Dam 999
A possible entry to the Oscars, an English film titled “Dam 999” has a double Tamil connection – hunky ex rugby player and model, Vinay Rai (Unnale Unnale) and Sidyney Australia born and raised actress Vimala Raman (Raman Thediya Seethai, Poi) both have been roped to star in this high-budget magnum opus.
It is being directed by engineer Suhan Roy, in his debut venture. Check out the video below, of a fashion show done in the theme of the movie, for the lavish cast launch.
Marriage is a joke?!?!?
That is what the cute actress Bhavana (Deepavali, Jayam Kondan) said when rumours had gone around that she was to tie the knot. She has made it clear that her heart lies in acting and that her parents will make the call on her marriage when she feels she is ready.
So far the actress has an excellent response to her performance in the Ajith starrer “Asal” and a lot of scripts are heading down her way. But Bhavana has rejected few stating that she will only act in films that have meaty roles.
I hope all the directors are listening out there!
Top Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam heros to star together
Bollywood’s stalwart Amitabh Bachchan, Tamil hero Surya and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal come together in a rare combination, for the forthcoming Malayalam film Kandahar, directed by Major Ravi The story is of a plane hijacking and Surya will essay the role of a commando. It is a bilingual, being made simultaneously in Tamil and Malayalam. The buzz is that Ananya (Naadodigal) will be the female lead.
Bachchan is said to play the father of a passenger on the hijacked aircraft and heavyweight Mohanlal will also play a special forces operative. It is apparently inspired by the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC-814, which happened on Christmas eve 1999. Let’s wait for this biggie.
Dhanush picks up his Aruva
Yes! Our actor Dhanush will be killing lots of baddies. Well he should be, because his next film with Director Hari (Samy, Arul, Vel) has been titled “Aruva.” For those who do not know what Aruva is, it is a cleaver. You would see this prop in pretty much every movie directed by Hari.
But the film will only kick off once the director has completed “Singam” with Surya and also once Dhanush completes “Aadukalam” and “Mappilai.”
Surya and Priyamani will act together…in Hindi
That’s right, both of them will be launched as a pair in the Hindi flick “Rakta Charitra” by Ram Gopal Varma (RGV). Have a listen to him speaking about Surya here.
Surya is to play the character of Maddelacheruvu Suri whilst Priyamani plays his wife. Chocolate boy of Bollywood, Vivek Oberoi plays the role of Paritala Ravi with Radhika Apte as his wife. This high budget film will be released not only in Hindi but in Tamil and Telugu too.
With Vikram, Madhavan, Padmapriya and Siddharth all acting in high profile Bollywood films this year, the North South cross-over is ever evident.
Maddy for Yavarum Keleer
After much speculation, Madhavan is set to join Kamal in Yavarum Keleer, the pairing that worked like a dream in Anbe Sivam. According to sources, it is a comedy flick and we all know Kamal does that so well. It will also star Trisha and possibly producer Udayanidhi Stalin (whose Red giant movies is producing the film), and KS Ravikumar is set to bring the Thenali magic back to the screens.
The big-hitting Ameer-Jayam Ravi project
This has been in the talks for a long time and muscle man, the recently married Jayam Ravi comes together with the award winning director, actor and political activist Ameer (Yogi). Not long after Paruthiveeran hit the screens to huge success, the talks for this began and finally, the movie has been launched. Yuvan Shankar Raja is doing the music and shooting for “Aadhibhagavan” begins imminently. The tagline for the film is ‘irrational love’, so it is certainly set to be an interesting one – watch this space for more on this.
TMS is back in action!
For all those youngsters who do not know who TMS is, he is a legendary singer who sang for pretty much all of Sivaji Ganesan and MGR movies. The last time I asked a child if they knew who TMS was, they asked if it was an Indian version of JLS?! Now back to my original point…
The legendary singer T.M.Soundarajan will be crooning his voice for a song in an upcoming movie. The 87 year old singer, who had came out of hospital due to serious illness, has said that he will be singing for a film that is being made in Malaysia.
At this age, the legend is a very active man as he continues to entertain his fans with stage shows. His recent performance took place in the Gandhi Museum of Madurai.
The King of play-back singing has sung over 10,000 songs in his career for many decades. The last film he had sung for was “Gnana Paravai” which came out 20 years ago.
