British beauty queen in Madharasapattinam
Arya (the light eyed actor from Sarvam/Naan Kadavul) is acting with British Miss Teen World 2008, Amy Jackson, in Madharasapattinam, an ambitious film, set in India’s pre-independence era. The film is directed by AL Vijay (Kireedom) and was shot in London and Chennai. It features music by the young nephew of AR Rahman, GV Prakash.
A lot of work has gone into the film, especially from the art direction side, as they have tried to bring the old Chennai to the silver-screen. I suppose the only time people like me get to see what India looked like back in the olden days is through films and having seen films like “Indian, Jodhaa Akbar, Subramaniampuram and Varanam Aayiram, I would say that I am very interested to see the old India once again on the screens.
Nayantara is a joker
No! Not in real life. I’m talking about in the film “Boss Engira Baskaran?” directed by Rajesh (Siva Manasula Sakthi aka SMS with Jeeva).
Hot actress Nayanthara, who has acted with the likes of Rajinikanth and is said to be the happy beau of dancer/director Prabhu Deva, is taking in charge of the comedy scenes in yet another Arya film. Every Tamil film must have a separate comedy track, which is why Santhanam will be taking care of comedy scenes. It is said that the comedic scenes with Nayanthara are supposed to be inducing the audience in stitches of laughter.
The film is about how Arya attempts to make Nayanthara fall in love with him and the problems he faces before he joins hands with her.
Vijay is an idiot!
Huh? No I would never say that! I’m a big fan too. But what can I do? Tamil star Vijay has shown his interest to be part of the Tamil remake of the Hindi Blockbuster 3 Idiots.
The film is to be directed by Vishnuvardhan (Billa, Sarvam) and Vijay would like to take Aamir Khan’s role. It is said to be tailored to suit the Tamil audience. But what I want to know is who the other two idiots are? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Young Superstar Simbu with director Lingusamy
Young Super Star, Silambarasan is supposed to act in a film under Director Boopathy Pandian (Devathayai Kanden, Malaikottai) and produced by Director Lingusamy (Bheema, Paiyya). But Pandian is not directing the film anymore which means the new director assigned for the film is Venkat Prabhu with the milky actress Tamannaah as the leading lady. But then we are told that it is all rumours and now Director Lingusamy will direct the film himself. Although no music directors have been mentioned, is it possible to say that Lingusamy and Simbu’s favourite Yuvan Shankar Raja could be doing the music? You’ll have to watch this space to find out!
Surya with AR Murugadoss again
There are confirmations that Surya is acting with AR Murugadoss. Both teamed up in the past for the super-hit Ghajini. I was hoping that the film was to commence this year, it seems that Surya has to wait till next year because AR Murugadoss wants to start on his 2nd Hindi flick instead. But the quick thinking director is meeting up with Harris Jayaraj to complete all the songs for Surya’s film so that once he starts shooting next year, the music would be the last thing he would have to worry about. Kamal Haasan’s talented daughter, Shruti is pegged as the female actress in this film, in the meantime, she is said to now be doing the music for her Father’s Yavarum Kelir, a role that was said to have gone to Thaman. Shruti is also in the news for her close relationship with actor Siddharth, who was last seen in Striker and made waves with Mani Ratnam’s Boys, Yuva and Rakesh Mehra’s Rang de Basanti.
Soundarya Rajinikanth’s engagement
A while back, Thamarai reported the impending engagement of the younger daughter of Superstar Rajinikanth (and sister-in-law to actor Dhanush), a well known movie producer in her own right, who had a release in the cinemas in January, 2010, Venkat Prabhu’s Goa and the animated feature, based on her father, Sultan, up and coming. Beautiful Soundarya is said to wed Stanford educated Ashwin Kumar later on in the year. This happy occasion took place at the plush Park Shereton Hotel in Chennai, with a host of Kollywood’s A list celebrities who came down to wish the handsome couple.
