Lebara backs AR Rahman

Lebara, the global market leader in providing high quality, low-cost international mobile services, today announces its sponsorship of music legend AR Rahman’s UK and European arm of his first ever world tour, which takes place this summer.

AR Rahman has been recognised in India and by the Asian community both in the UK and worldwide as a visionary composer and musician for the past decade. Rahman shot to global fame in 2009, following the incredible success of Danny Boyle’s Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire and his track Jai Ho! featuring the Pussycat Dolls.

The European leg of the Lebara Jai Ho AR Rahman ‘The Journey Home’ World Tour will kick off in Zurich on 16th July, followed by concerts in Paris and Mannheim. The UK concerts will take Rahman to the LG Arena in Birmingham on 23rd July, with the closing weekend on 24th and 25th July in the two biggest arenas in London – the O2 and Wembley.

Following hot on the heels of the company’s sponsorship of the MOBOs and UK Asian Music Awards, this move solidifies the company’s relationship with the music industry. Chief Executive, Ratheesan Yoganathan said of the tour: “This is an exciting opportunity for Lebara to reaffirm its relationship with the music industry, enabling us to drive added value to our customers through content provision, a service which is rapidly becoming important to our customers.”
