Half Tamil and Half Khasi-Chinese starlet Karen David is set to hit the small screen early next year in the highly successful BBC TV drama ‘Waterloo Road’. Known for her work with AR Rahman in Bombay Dreams, Provoked and her acting skills and even judging events like Faceoff, Karen is not only a brand ambassador for beauty and peace, but also a highly trained and talented all-rounder.
Singer, songwriter and actress Karen, who was last seen in the No 1 US box Office hit ‘Couple’s Retreat’, joins an all star cast in the prime time series, which currently airs every Wednesday at 8pm. The drama series centres around a troubled comprehensive school focusing on its teachers and students, confronting gritty social issues.
Karen started filming in early November in England and has homes in LA and UK for her acting roles. She will play the lead role of Francesca Montoya, the school’s new young Spanish teacher. On landing the role Karen says: “I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to act in this fantastic series, which I know has such a huge following in the UK and beyond. It will raise my profile for my upcoming record releases in 2010, which is something I’m also very excited about.”
On Karen’s days off from filming she has been busy in the studio writing with the Metrophonic production team, whose CV boasts 5 cuts on the current number 1 album from JLS, as well as having written and produced classics such as “Hero” for Enrique Iglesias and “Believe” for Cher.
Karen’s label Foshfin Productions is currently collecting remixes for the upcoming single “Hypnotize You (On the Dance Floor)” which is scheduled for release in early 2010. The record is a collaboration with producers Flip N Spin and versions feature Sonu Kakkar and Ishq Bector.
