Track of the Week #7

Superhero movies are vey rare in Kollywood. It’s either that the script is not racy enough, the audience do not appreciate much of the genre, or because actors are not keen on these types of films. However, Director Myskin – who churned out hits such as "Chithuram Pesuthadi", "Anjathey" and "Yudham Sei"  – decided to break the mould and direct a superhero flick…and that too, one with a prominent actor, Jiiva.

With the film "Mugamoodi" being a hit, I have decided to choose my track of the week from this film.

The song is called "Vaayamoodi Summa Iru", and if you were to judge on the lyrics alone, you’d immediately assume the track would be an upbeat koothu number. However, upcoming Music Director "K" has composed a melodious tune, with vocals by Aalap Raju who is clocking up hit after hit in the Southern Music Industry. Aalap’s smooth voice flows effortlessly over the string-based accompaniments,  and the background vocals add a touch of energy to the otherwise ballad-like song. The video has been shot in a number of scenic locations, and is sure to bring a smile to your face!

With this being K’s 2nd album, and that too for a film starring Jiiva, could this be his launch to work with top actors?

Nish Raj is an avid music and movie fan, based in London. He’s also a musician who specialises in percussion of all types and he claims to be able to make beats out of "nearly anything". We’re yet to test his skills on this…
