Track of the Week #22

For this week’s Track of the Week, I have chosen a Telugu song from the film "Naayak" starring Ram Charan, son of Telugu actor Mega Star Chiranjeevi. The song is called "Laila O Laila" and this track is probably one of my favourite tracks in Tollywood…but only because I’m a drummer!

Leading Tollywood music  director Thaman, is in fact a professional drummer himsel, and this was highlighted in Shankar’s "Boys" where he played one of the lead roles. As a result, Thaman always gives importance to the beat in any song he composes, and "Laila O Laila" is no exception.

This track is a club number with a hard-hitting beat made up of electronic drums and bongos. It’s extremely fast-paced…so much so, that there’s a good chance you may tire out just from listening to the song! Thaman has used a chorus of singers in this song with Shankar Mahadevan, Rahul Nambiar, Ranjith and Naveen Madhav.
