Throwback Thursday #21

The Karnataka State Government recently gave the Best Actor award to South India’s Action King Arjun for his role in the Kannada hit film "Prasad." Arjun has acted in nearly over a 100 films from Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi film. Even though his title is Action King, the film "Prasad" portrayed him in a different light, as a doting father to a deaf and mute son.

"Putaani Agent 123" was the first film for Arjun in Kannada. He continued to act in Kannada and Telugu films until he made his debut in Kollywood with the film "Nandri" sharing the screen space with actor Karthik. After that, Arjun was a popular face in Kollywood with his first major blockbuster being Shankar’s "Gentlemen". He again followed up with the successful director with the film "Mudhalvan". More recently, we saw him as the antagonist in Mani Ratnam’s "Kadal".

As our Throwback Thursday track, we thought we would choose a song from 1993 film "Gentlemen" which had music scored by Music Wizard A. R. Rahman, who received both the Tamil Nadu State and Filmfare Best Music Director Awards for this film! Singer Sujatha won the Tamil Nadu State award for Best Female Playback Singer for her vocals on this song, which was also sung by SP Balasubramanyam.
