Tamil Women Entrepreneurs Honoured at House of Commons

Meet Tamil Nadu based Damayanthi Pannerselvam, the director of “N Safe”, a sustainable solutions firm specialising in bio-compostable products.

Yesterday at the House of Commons, Damayanthi received a Global Woman’s Empowerment Award for business, presented by the World Tamil Organisation (WTO) and the United Kingdom Women Network (UKWNET).

Starting her business journey in the 80s, Damayanthi from Tuticorin, is a trailblazing woman entrepreneur who is passionate about driving change and creating sustainable solutions.

N Safe manufactures 1 million bio-compostable bags everyday, effectively replacing an equal number of plastic bags. The eco friendly alternative is made from corn starch which decomposes in a few weeks of disposal, transforming into nutrient rich manure.

Her company addresses the growing issue of plastic pollution blighting the Indian Ocean, and sustainable waste management.
