Posting up a video on YouTube and getting brilliant feedback is amazing enough as it is, but imagine getting the seal of approval from the song’s creator himself?
That’s exactly what happened with this new video by Alaa Wardi from Saudia Arabia; this talented singer and one-man-band posted up his a capella version of the song "Jiya Re" from "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" yesterday, and today it was shared by the song’s composer – none other than AR Rahman himself!
The Iranian-born singer is popular in the Middle East, and his one-man-band covers of Arabic songs have been a huge hit; his cover of Nancy Ajram’s "Fi Hagat" has over 2 million views!
Last week, Alaa uploaded his first ever Bollywood cover – the song "Pehla Nasha" from "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar". The video went viral, being shared all over Twitter, Facebook and other networks, and it currently has over 645,000 views!
Yesterday, Alaa’s cover of "Jiya Re" came out, and it has been hugely popular. The song is from Hindi film "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, with music by the award-winning music director AR Rahman. Earlier today, the ‘Mozart of Madras’ himself shared Alaa’s video, saying "Nice a capella cover of Jiya Re"! The song was also shared by singer Neeti Mohan, who lent her vocals to the original version of the song.
We love how innovative Alaa is with his videos, and can’t imagine how long it must take to dissect each track to work out each individual layer! One thing’s for sure: he is doing exceptionally well at "bringing happiness" and "uplifting souls" which are the things he cites on his website as being his desire, and his aim!
