Track of the Week #4

This week’s "Track of the Week" is the official song, "Podaa Podi" from the film "Podaa Podi" itself. The song is composed by Dharan who gave hits such as Sivi, Siddu + 2 and Thambiku Endha Ooru.

When it comes to composing a romantic tune, the guitar is the most-commonly used instrument, and Dharan has used it effectively alongside urban beats. The beat is simple but catchy, and the composition is very different to the usual Tamil songs we get in films; the interludes are much shorter, and the song feels more like a single pop track than one from a film.

Benny Dayal and Andrea Jeremiah have done justice to the song with their youthful vocals, as well as their improvisations throughout the song. Singer-turned-actress Andrea seems to be on a roll with the continuous release of tracks recently, so she is definitely one to look out for (not forgetting she is acting in "Viswaroopam" with Padmashree Kamal Haasan)!

Benny Dayal does what he does best when it comes to vocal performance. He has emerged as one of Kollywood’s leading vocalists, and has given this song a modern touch.
