Shri composes for Life of Pi

Remember this Google Chrome advert about the dying art form of Tanjore paintings?

Well, the person behind the music for the advert is Bangalore-born, British-Asian Shrikanth Sriram a.k.a. Shri. Now, the folktronic artist has been signed by Fox STAR Studios India to compose a theme track for the Indian promos for Ang Lee’s upcoming film "Life of Pi".

It’s an honour to be a part of such a prestigious project. I have been given the space to create my own music while keeping in mind the aesthetics of the film. Ang Lee is known to give cinema a new dimension and I have loved every bit of working with him. I am excited for the launch and hope people across the globe will like my work," says the musician who has worked with artistes such as Talvin Singh and Nitin Sawhney.

Shri recently performed at the NH7 Weekender in Pune, with Bangalore-based Indian folk fusion band Swarathma, as well as his on-stage music creation project "ShriLektric". Check out the video below to find out more about ShriLektric. We can’t wait to hear the track Shri composes for the "Life of Pi" Indian promos!
