This week’s Track of the Week is from the upcoming film "Aadhi Bhagavan" starring Jayam Ravi and Neethu Chandra. The film has been in the making for quite a long time, but the songs have finally been released and have been received well by the audience.
The song that I have chosen is the "Bhagavan – Rap theme" which is sung by Sathyan and Eelam Tamil Rapper Tha Prophecy who is based in Canada.
The start of the track feels like it could well be an Eminem track, which proves that Yuvan is also very capable of composing rap music extremely well. The beats are foot-tapping, though you may notice a hint of Timbaland’s track "Carry Out". The lyrics flow well with the rhythm, and it’s definitely a track you would want to pump up the volume to in your car.
Tha Prophecy started his rap career just like many Tamil-born musicians all over the world – by producing his own tracks and reaching out to people via Facebook and YouTube. He had collaborated with UK musicians MC Sai as well as Vernon G Segaram from Adaxial UK, and now has reached his greatest height by rapping for Yuvan Shankar Raja. To make things even more special, the audio launch was held in Canada where the rapper got to perform his track in his home town in front of his friends, family and fans.
So what do you think of the track? Do you think Kollywood music directors should start searching for more raw talent across the Globe on a regular basis?
