Kali Arulpragasam, a jewellery designer based in London, releases her latest collection "THE WORLD." From the start of London 2012’s Opening Ceremony on the 27th July to the closing ceremony on the 12th August, Kali is going to release one design a day.
If the name sound’s familiar, it should; she has a younger sibling who goes by the name Maya Arulpragasam aka M.I.A, the British music icon.
The piece pictured above titled "Labour under $1 a day" grabbed our attention. This is the description she provided: Blue is good > Red is very very poor. That’s more than half of our World living under a $1!
The Central Saint Martin trained jewellery designer started designing for Super Fertile in 2007. Her work is politically conscious in form, influenced by social realism, the environment and nations torn at war.
Her 2011 collection titled "Murder" featured a collection of necklaces and rings that look like bullet wounds and scars to highlight inhumanity around the world. Here is an interesting interview with Stylelist about the collection. Click here
