Madhur Bhandakar’s new film with Shruti Haasan
The man who made Chandni Bar, Page 3, Corporate, and Fashion is back and this time, he has chosen the gorgeous Shruti Haasan, daughter of Kamal, who is working with AR Murugadoss (Ghajini) on the Tamil film 7aam Arivu. He says: “My latest film ‘Dil To Bachha Hai Ji’ is a youthful comedy, with Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Shruti Haasan and Omi Vaidya. Ajay has a rare comic sense that’s not been properly utilised. Emraan Hashmi too can be equally good. Shruti Haasan is fresh and gifted, whilst Omi Vaidya has proven his ability in ‘3 Idiots. Pritam Chakraborty’s scoring five tunes for the film. With ‘Dil To Bachha Hai Ji’, I’m striving to follow the trend set by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee in the 70s, with memorable films such as ‘Golmaal’ and ‘Rajnigandha’.” Omi Vaidya is the American Goan actor, who has appeared in TV series like Bones and is in the forthcoming Tamil film by Jayam Raja, Velayudham, with Vijay, Genelia D’Souza and Hansika Motwani.

Akshay Kumar’s London soiree
While Akshay Kumar was the talk of London town, with his cricket movie, Patiala House, he decided to spend some quality time with a selected group of journalists at a plush hotel in London. While discussing his beautiful co-star, Trisha and well known director Priyadarshan (a Malayalee who owns 4 frames, cinema in Chennai), he also showed us some exclusive rushes of the comedy. Khatta Meetha is about a struggling road construction contractor, Sachin Tichkule (Akshay Kumar). He is doomed to dream big. There is no chance in hell that his dreams will ever come true, simply because he has no money to bribe. To make matters worse, the new Municipal Commissioner turns out to be his ex-girlfriend (Trisha) who now hates him. Even as you laugh as Sachin bumbles his way from one disaster to another, the film reveals in a light hearted way the extent of corruption and bribery rampant in the system. And the ingenious means you have to adopt if you want to survive. Enjoy the bumpy ride!

Raavanan beats Raavan in the box office
While there are hundreds of discussions about Raavan and it’s Tamil counterpart Raavanan and mixed views, Mani Ratnam, the eminent director of the film is to be honoured with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award 2010 at 67th Venice International Film Festival. An award which has gone to major names like Takeshi Kitano, Abbas Kiarostami, Agnès Varda, and Sylvester Stallone. While the films opened in 2200 screens worldwide and had a decent opening, in the UK, the Tamil version made more per screen. Shown in only 13 cinemas, the Tamil version, while hitting number 14 in the UK box office, did better than the Hindi version, which opened in 52 cinemas. The on screen average is a good way of looking at the success of a film and is a measure often used to gauge the success of a film. The site average of £5,585 for Raavanan in Tamil is highly impressive, considering the Hollywood movie at number one slot, Killers, shown in 446 cinemas, made £2,361. Catch our red carpet footage and look out for Chit-Chats with Mani Ratnam/Vikram and Abhishek Bachchan. https://thamarai.com/news-details.php?id=163
