Make way for the newborn!

A week ago Kollywood welcomed the birth of Surya and Jo’s second child, this time a boy. But it does not stop there! Actors such as Dhanush, Jayam Ravi and Vikranth are all awaiting the birth of their child in the next month or so too.

Dhanush married the Super Star’s daughter, Aishwarya Rajinikanth in 2004 and they are expecting their second child. They both have a loving son named Yatra.

Jayam Ravi married Aarti in June 2009 and the couple are expecting their first child very soon.

Finally Vikranth (Vijay’s cousin) married Manasa in October 2009 they too are expecting their first child.

I wonder if their children will be acting in films in the future?

Mottai is new style

Tonsuring or shaving your head has become a fashion, especially with the number of actors who have done it in the past. We’ve had Kamal Haasan (Aalavandhan), Ajith (Red), Surya (Ghajini), Madhavan (Aayutha Ezhuthu) and Arun Vijay (Maanja Velu). Now the latest to join these men is Munna who was last seen in Kanden Kadhalai with Bharath and Tamannah. He will be seen with a clean-shaven head in Mani Ratnam’s Raavanan. The actor, who plays Vikram’s younger brother, was happy to say that he was given a meaty role for the film and stated a certain scene required him to shave his head.

To be honest, I would do anything to be in a Mani Ratnam film.

Funny Boss

I’m talking about the handsome green-eyed actor Arya’s new film, “Boss Engira Baskaran” opposite Nayanthara. The film is directed by Rajesh (Siva Manusula Sakthi) and is touted to be a laugh riot.

Finally we get to see Nayanthara in a traditional saree after ages. Last she was seen in a saree was in a cameo role in Venkat Prabhu’s Goa.

This Yuvan Shankar Raja musical is to be released very soon.

Srikanth with 3Ps

It has been a while since we saw Srikanth with a hit movie. The last movie which did amazingly well was “Parthiban Kanavu”, but that was because of Sneha’s performance. His recent release is Telugu film “Police Police”, alongside the handsome Prithviraj. The film is dubbed as Kutrappirivu.

But now the actor has gone for a new look and will be playing an angry youth in a Tamil film titled “Dhrohi”, directed by Sudha K Prasadh. Also playing the lead with Srikanth is actor Vishnu. He is still awaiting the release of him film “Bale Pandiya”. This film consists of three heroines. They are Poonam Bajwa (Seval, Thenavattu, Kacheri Aarambam), Pooja  ( Oram Po, Pori, Naan Kadavul) and Poorna (Muniyandi Vilangial Moonramandu).

Prakash Raj takes his movie to Bollywood

“Father of the Bride” by Steve Martin inspired Prakash Raj to make “Abhiyum Naanum” in Tamil. The film also starred Trisha and Ganesh Venkataraman in pivotal roles. It was such a great hit that Prakash Raj took the film to Sandalwood and directed the Kannada version. He played the same role of a father but had actress Amoolya as his daughter. There itself the film did wonders. Now Prakash Raj decided to take the next big step by taking the film to Bollywood.

The actor will be directing and producing it but will not be acting in it. The rest of the cast and crew is yet to be decided. Prakash Raj is not new to the Bollywood industry as he had already starred in the Hindi version of Pokkiri, “Wanted” opposite Salman Khan. The film was directed by Prabhu Deva.
