What is Singam all about?!
Director Hari (Samy, Aaru, Vel) is the director of actor Surya’s 25th film. He plays the role of a tough police officer.
Surya plays the character of Durai Singam, who is forced by his father to enter the police force. After joining the police department, he begins to enjoy his job, by getting rid of criminals.
The story portrays Surya from a silent, caring person into a tough angry cop due to the rowdyism occurring around him.
The director has stated that the film will be a mix of Samy and Kaakha Kaakha.
Anushka (Rendu, Vettaikaaran) is the heroine of the film and music is scored by Devi Sri Prasad.
Watch Singam roar on May 28th.

Maasi, the Action Cop
If one cop story is not enough, then here’s another one!
Actor Arjun and police stories have always been a successful mix. The latest we get to see the Action King in uniform is in Maasi directed by G Kicha.
A special highlight of the film will be a car chase involving 500 cars! This thrilling scene was shot using seven cameras and the director hopes that the audience will appreciate the extraordinary scenes that have been put together.
The handsome actor plays Masilamani, an encounter specialist who uses his intelligence, to take upon his enemies, after a sudden incident that changes his whole life.

Genelia is back!
Genelia’s debut to the Tamil Industry was in Director Shankar’s Boys. She may not be the top ranked actress but she has acted over a dozen movies in Tamil, Hindi. Telugu and Kannada.
The bubbly actress was last seen in Director Jayam Raja’s Santhosh Subramaniam, opposite Jayam Ravi in which her performance was highly appreciated. She played the same role in the Telugu version and now also in the Hindi version. She is currently acting opposite actor Dhanush in Uthama Puthiran.
Now Jayam Raja will give Genelia another opportunity to act under his direction. This will be for Vijay’s 52nd film titled Velayudham. This will be Raja’s first non-remake film, since his previous films were all remakes of Telugu films.
This will be Vijay and Genelia’s second film together after Sachein.

Teacher required
Nithin Ramakrishnan is a new young director who has launched his first film Uma Maheswaram. The film introduces Miss India, the beautiful Parvathy Omanakuttan to the Tamil film Industry.
The film will be about Bharathanatyam, a South Indian classical dance, where Parvathy will play the lead role, as she is a trained classical dancer.
The script also requires the role of a guru for the dancer. Actress Simran was approached but due to the enormous price quote from the actress, the director has decided to look elsewhere. At the moment, talks are going on with veteran actress Nadhiya (Mother to Jayam Ravi in M. Kumaran son Mahalakshmi).

Shruti says no to weight gain!
Shruti Haasan made her first debut to the screen in Bollywood flick Luck which gained her critical acclaim, but didn’t succeed in the box-office. She will now make he debut in Kollywood with director AR Murugadoss’ film, 7am Arivu, opposite Surya.
The actress had been offered to play a role in Sandalwood with actor Siddharth (Rang De Basanti, Boys) and she initially accepted the project, but has now pulled out.
Why? Well the film required the actress to put on a lot of weight. Since the actress is not only committed to 7am Arivu, but to a few stage performances with her brand new band, gaining weight was a big NO! NO! for her.

Vikram teams up with Gautham
Tamil Cinema is always full of surprise when it comes to bringing two big guns together for a film. I’m talking about the handsome actor Chiyaan Vikram and director Gautham Vasudev Menon. They’ve always had an interest to work together and that is what they have decided to do!
No project has been finalised, since both are busy with their own projects. Vikram, who finished Mani Ratnam’s Raavan/Raavanan/Villain, is currently shooting for Director Selvaraghavan (7G Rainbow Colony, Aayirathil Oruvan) and another film with Boopathy Pandian (Thiruvilayadal Arambam, Malaikottai). Gautham is currently directing Ajith’s 50th film and plans to complete another quick film after that.
With a busy schedule, the duo will start work early 2011.

Trisha is Jessie again!
Trisha will make her debut in Bollywood with Khatta Meetha opposite the tall handsome actor Akshay Kumar. The gorgeous actress had mentioned that till she completed the Hindi film, she would not accepting any other Hindi offers.
But with the shooting of Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha coming to an end, Trisha has decided to bag a role for another Hindi film. This role will be nothing new to her as she will be playing the female lead, Jessie, in the Hindi version of Vinaithaandi Varuvaaya.
Director Gautham Vasudev Menon has decided to direct the film in Hindi with AR Rahman scoring the music, But there will be a slight change to the BGM as the story will be set in Goa instead of Kerala which was in the original script of the Tamil and Telugu version.
The cast have not been finalised but there are talks that actor Prateek Babbar might play the lead role.
This will be Gautham’s second Hindi film after the remake of Minnale, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, starring Madhavan, Saif Ali Khan and Dia Mirza. The director is so committed to this film that he even refused to direct Kaakha Kaakha in Hindi, which is now being directed by Nishikanth Kamath.
