No Ko Simbu!
Simbu has walked out from the film “Ko” (King in Tamil) which is directed by “Ayan” fame K.V.Anand. By the sounds of it, Simbu had creative differences with the Ko team and has had the ultimate summoning, by the ace director Mani Ratnam – an offer he couldn’t refuse. Actor Jiiva is rumoured to be taking his place alongside Karthika, the daughter of yesteryear beauty Radha (Alaigal Oivathillai). Music is scored by Harris Jeyaraj.
Vijay and Ajith dance to A.R.Rahman’s music
Now if this was in a film, then I would say that it would be a dream film come true. But this is not for a film, it’s for a stage show! A felicitation function for Chief Minister (CM) M Karunanidhi will be held on Feb 6th. A variety of performance will be staged with, in presence of Kamal Haasan & Rajinikanth. There will be a performance by Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara who are known as the new hot pair. As well as this, AR Rahman has set a tune to CM’s lyrics and Vijay and Ajith are to act the song out on stage. It is also said that actor Vikram is join the duo too. This will definitely get the audience going crazy!
Kamal chooses Thaman
Kamal Haasan’s next film is “Yavarum Kelir” with Trisha as his leading lady. The film will be directed by K.S.Ravikumar. Now with Kamal, you would expect someone like Ilayaraja, A.R.Rahman or even his daughter Shruti Haasan to handle the music. But Kamal has been keeping note of all the new music directors that have emerged and he has now chosen Thaman Sai for his film. Thaman was one of the boys in Shankar’s “Boys.” Since then Thaman made it big in the Telugu industry as music director as well as in Tamil with Eeram and Mundhinam Parthaney. Now he has got his big break to compose for Kamal Haasan!
Thaman, if you’re reading this….Well done!
February feast
There’s definitely a feast of treats for film lovers as four big Tamil movies are releasing this month.
Starting with Ajith starrer “Asal” releasing on Feb 5th, we get to see our actor back as a don again as he was in Billa. The film also stars the cute actress Bhavana, sizzling siren Sameera Reddy and actor Prabhu Ganesan.
Not a fan of action films? No worries, because Gautham Vasudev Menon’s “Vinaithaandi Varuvaaya” is said to be released in February too. This romantic film stars Young Super Star Silambarasan and Trisha, with compositions by Music Wizard and winner of 2 Grammys and 2 Oscars, AR Rahman.
Next up is an action film with a kind of its own. I’m talking about Linguswamy’s Paiyya starring Karthi & Tamanna. This movie is very unusual as the whole film revolves around a car journey. We get to see Karthi with a much more modern look compared to his last in Selvaraghavan’s Aayirathil Oruvan.
Lastly we have a romantic comedy film with tall, buff and handsome Vishal starrer “Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai”. The film has Neethu Chandra (Yavarum Nalam), Sarah-Jane Dias (former Miss India World) and Tanushree Dutta (former Miss India Universe) as heroines with Yuvan Shankar Raja as music director.
