South London’s premier Sri Lankan restaurant and bar, Copper Ceylon, marked their 5th anniversary and the launch of their new 2025 menu with an exclusive VIP event on Thursday 16th January.
Guests enjoyed curated Sri Lankan-inspired dishes, cocktails and live entertainment in Copper Ceylon’s newly refreshed setting.
The evening, held in partnership with Grey Goose and hosted by Fred Sirieix, beloved star of Channel 4’s First Dates, featured a special live performance by Oritsé Williams – solo Afrobeats artist and founding member of British pop group JLS.
Copper Ceylon was founded by British Tamil couple Haran & Lavanya Thurairajah, who have established the much loved Bromley local into a cultural hub where Sri Lanka’s rich traditions meet modern hospitality. The menu reflects the restaurant’s dedication to inclusivity, ensuring that everyone can savour the vibrancy of Sri Lankan cuisine.
Highlights of the 2025 menu include iconic Sri Lankan staples such as fiery Jaffna Mutton Curry and delicate Hoppers, alongside contemporary twists like Vegan Lemon Pudding, showcasing the versatility and depth of the cuisine. With bold spices, fresh ingredients, and centuries of history, Sri Lankan cuisine is poised to be one of 2025’s biggest global food trends.
“This event was a celebration of everything Copper Ceylon stands for—bringing people together to experience the warmth, flavours, and culture of Sri Lanka,” said Lavanya Thurairajah, co-founder of Copper Ceylon.
