Singaporean Tamil Anjana Vasan in British comedy Wicked Little Letters

Tamil actress Anjana Vasan, has landed a role in Wicked Little Letters. An outrageous British comedy based on a true story from 1920s England about two neighbors caught up in a literal war of words.

Born in Tamil Nadu, and raised in Singapore, Anjana Vasan is an Oliver Award winning actress. She received the award in 2023 for her role as Stella Kowalski in the theatre revival of Tennessee Willams’ play “A Streetcar named Desire”.

She was nominated for a BAFTA (British Academy Television Awards) for her role in the Channel 4 sitcom “We are Lady Parts”, about a British punk rock band consisting entirely of Muslim women.

A familiar face in Netflix’s Black Mirror series, “Anjana Vasan first appeared in Season 3, Episode 1, “Nosedive,” which happened to be one of the best episodes. Now, seven years later, Vasan has appeared in Season 6, Episode 5, “Demon 79,” which happens to be the most unique Black Mirror episode yet.” (Collinder)

Wicked Little Letters is set in the charming seaside town of Littlehampton. Residents have started receiving anonymous, poison-pen letters, brimming with curse words and scandalous prose. Who is writing them and how can they be stopped?

It doesn’t sit well with Police Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan). With her superiors unwilling to listen, she gathers a group of unlikely yet resourceful female volunteers to get to the bottom of the mystery.
