We bring to you a first look of Vikram as Raavana, in Mani Ratnam’s much anticipated film, starring Aishwarya Rai. A trailer is being shot around Vikram, just like the Abhishek Bachchan version we shared with you. Prithviraj will play the antagonist role in the Tamil version, where Vikram is the hero.
This is one of Vikram’s biggest roles in his longstanding acting career and his stellar acting skills are abuzz in Tinseltown, as he apparently shines alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the hero and the villain in this Bi-lingual film.
Mani Ratnam is said to have recently shot the big budget song ‘Kata Kata’ (sung by Ila Arun, Sapna Awasthi and Kunal Ganjawala) with 500 dancers in Jhansi, Madhya Pradesh. One of the production crew had said: "A huge set was created in Jhansi to shoot this song which took four days to wrap up and has been choreographed by Ganesh Acharya."
Kerala, Ooty, Kolkata, Mahabaleshwari and in the Malshej Ghats in Maharashtra are other parts of India where the film has been shot – in true Mani Ratnam style, with the exception of Kannathil Muthamittal (where some of the film was shot in Sri Lanka), he captures the vast beauty of India. 2 cinematographers are on board for this film, V. Manikandan (Om Shanti Om), who shot a portion before witching to his personal favourite, Santosh Sivan (Roja, Dil Se).
Asha Bhonsle is said to have recently recorded a song for Raavana and the tracklist of the Hindi songs and 30 second clips have appeared online, creating even more anticipation.
The Hindi tracks feature AR Rahman himself, British Asian singer, Reena Bharadwaj, Kailash Kher, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Naresh Iyer, Shreya Ghoshal, Karthik, Malgudi Subha and Sonu Niigaam amongst others. The Tamil tracklist is here:

The Thamarai team wish Mani Ratnam and his team much success.
