It’s our third week of "Track of the Week" and I’ve decided to choose a much more mellow track.
"Ayyayyayo Ananthamey – Lady and the Violin" is a beautiful track that is composed by music director D.Imman for the film "Kumki".
There are two versions to this track; the one sung by Haricharan has a lot more rhythm added to it, whilst this version is a more acoustic one, with violin and guitar being dominant. The song is sung by a upcoming Bollywood singer Aditi Paul, who was a contestant on "Indian Idol" back in 2005. The way she has rendered the song will make you think she could be the new Shreya Ghoshal in a few years time. Just like D. Imaan, hopefully more music directors will utilise her voice.
"Kumki" marks the debut of actor Prabhu’s son, Vikram Prabhu, who is also the late Sivaji Ganesan’s grandson. The film is about the relationship between a man and an elephant.
Have a listen below, and let us know your thoughts on the track. Do you think Kollywood Music Directors should use more South Indian singers rather than Bollywood singers?
