The Mindy Project hits UK screens

Have you ever wanted to be in your own romantic comedy? Mindy Lahiri, the lead character in TV show "The Mindy Project" certainly does! Starring Mindy Kaling, the comedy show is set to premiere on UK television next week!

Half-Tamil half-Bengali actress Mindy Kaling burst onto our screens in 2005  in hit US television show, The Office. Originally part of the team as a writer, she took up the role of Kelly Kapoor in the series and has written numerous episodes including "Niagara", for which received an Emmy nomination with co-writer Greg Daniels. 

The 33-year-old has also starred in a number of feature films including "The 40 Year Old Virgin" and "No Strings Attached". Her book "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)" was published in 2011, and in it she shares her views on romance, friendship and life in Hollywood. In September 2012, Mindy’s own show "The Mindy Project" aired on Fox television in the US, and earlier this month is was renewed by the channel for a second season.

The comedy series was the first US television series to star a South Asian American in the lead, and follows gynaecologist Mindy Lahiri (played by Mindy), who is joined on screen by Chris Messina (The Newsroom, Damages), Ed Weeks and Zoe Jarman. Comparing herself to rom-com regulars such as Katherine Heigl, Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock, Mindy attempts to navigate her way through her personal and professional life in "The Mindy Project". 

The show will finally be airing on television screens across the UK, as it has been picked up by E4. "The Mindy Project" will receive its UK premiere on Tuesday, March 26th at 9:30pm, so be sure to tune in!
