Double Winner @ Industry Awards

2011 seems to be off to a flying start for Lebara Mobile, the UK leader in providing high quality, low-cost international mobile call services, as the company walked away with two prestigious Awards at this year’s Mobile News Awards. The Mobile News Awards, held at the Hilton Park Lane, is the biggest and most respected event in the mobile industry calendar with the awards being judged by an independent panel of industry experts.

Lebara Mobile picked up gongs for Best Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) and Best Customer Service and was one of only three companies to receive two awards, proving that this young company is celebrated and acknowledged by the biggest names in the industry.

Lebara Mobile was founded in 2001 by Ratheesan Yoganathan, a young Sri Lankan Tamil with great ambition. Lebara’s vision was, and still remains, to be the leader in providing low-cost, high quality international mobile services. Just five years after its launch, Lebara was ranked as the UK’s fourth fastest-growing private company in the Sunday Times ‘Fast Track 100 listing’ and has continued to win accolades from the mobile communications industry.

In 2008, Lebara was voted Best Newcomer at the Mobile Industry Awards, was recognised as delivering the Most Innovative Service at the 2009 Mobile News Awards, and in 2010 won the award for best MVNO at the Mobile News Awards.

There seems to be no doubt that Yoganathan’s dream, to be the leader in his field, is on the way to being realised. He says of this winning streak: “This achievement is a wonderful highlight for everyone in our business who works hard to serve our customers, retailers and channel partners. The awards are a great accolade and we are especially proud that the judges recognised the great service we offer by putting customers at the heart of what we do.”
