On Monday evening the Tamil community came together to celebrate Thai Pongal and mark the recently announced Tamil Heritage Month in London.
“Pongal in Westminiser” was hosted by various Tamil community organisations in the UK. The event featured live cultural performances – including parai, carnatic and bharatanatyam, with speeches by prominent members of parliament and the Tamil community.
A complimentary Thai Pongal treat box created by Ruby’s catering was served to guests on arrival. The box contained pongal, murrukku, chickpea sundal, mothakam, Kesari and more.
The lobby of the Westminister’s Central Hall was turned into a pop-up Tamil exhibition of literature, classical music, art and culture.
