Arji Manuelpillai and Ben Moore, together known as The Leano, are gearing up for the release of their album "Postcards From Nowhere", which is out later this month.
The duo’s style is an eclectic mix of hiphop, reggae, folk and rap with thought-provoking lyrics and catchy melodies. The Leano have performed across the country, from The Big Chill to the Royal Festival Hall, and have supported the likes of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.
Yesterday, they released a video for the track "FEAR" which is on their upcoming album."The first single FEAR is really close to our hearts," says Arji. "It ties together the frustrations that we feel from day-to-day, and hopes to let people know they’re not alone; we all feel the same ‘fear’."
There’s a slight eerie feel to the video, which cuts between news footage of incidents over the past year, and shots of Arji being tied up and dragged through hallways. "The video took a days worth of filming," continues the talented rapper-poet-lyricist-musician. "I wanted it to feel like a hostage video, without a hostage-taker." We certainly think that vibe comes across in the video. Check it out below:
The album – which releases on November 28th – is a mixture of spoken-word and The Leano’s unique acoustic rap pieces, and is sure to be a hit with many a music-lover.
"This album is our greatest work to date. It has been about two years in the making, and people who have been following us know that we have grafted hard over the last ten years. This work brings together songs of love and hope, of truth and awareness, twisting the world into a wheelbarrow of words. I can’t wait till its out!" says Arji…and neither can we!
Keep your eyes peeled for the Thamarai review of the album, which will be out soon!
