Our Track of the Week for this week is "Google Google" from Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film "Thuppakki". Nish Raj tells us more…
It has been a while since actor Vijay has crooned a song, with ‘Vaadi Vaadi’ from Sachein being the last one. The majority of songs sung by the actor have been gaana tracks with the typical "dapangkoothu" feel, although the actor has proved his singing skills in films such as "Friends" and "Kadhalukka Mariyadhai" under Ilayaraja’s composition.
‘Google Google’ is a much more techno-based, urban track with beats that will have your foot tapping. Vijay shares the mic with another actress for this track – Andrea Jeremiah (Patchaikili Muthucharam, Aayarithil Oruvan, Mankatha, Viswaroopam). Though she is not starring in the film itself, she has lent her voice to the track, giving a modern vocal touch as she has done in the past for films such as ‘Anniyan’ and ‘Manmadhan Ambu’.
Madhan Karky’s lyrics for this track are hardly meaningful, however the heavy use of English, and insertion of a lot of ‘tech lingo’ indicates that this song is aimed primarily at the youth of today.
What are your thoughts on the track or the album? Does the concept of foot tapping beats or lyrics play an importance for a song to be appreciated? Check out the track below!
