Top names in the Tamil independent entertainment scene have teamed up for the long awaited music and dance video to BENDU.
The project has been led by London based dancer, choreographer and popular youtuber, Jeya Raveendran, who has built a strong international following promoting South Indian street dance through his dance classes, workshops and youtube videos which are viewed by millions.
Known popularly as Dappan Kuthu or Gaana (to those in the diaspora), the Tamil dance form has grown rapidly in the past decade, crossing into mainstream Indian pop culture.
Bendu is a rework of Ar Rahman’s 90s hit “Urvasi” by Charles Bosco. Featuring Tamil rapper MC Sai, Bendu will definitely get you up on the dancefloor.
The video features the internationally recognised dance team “Gaana Rajas” who in 2012 took Tamil dance to the mainstream British audiences whilst competing in Sky One’s Got to Dance.
Really excited for you all to see the project we have been working on. Although I have been part of various independent music videos, this is my first time starring in one along with my dance troupe Gaana Rajas.
