South African Tamil Byroni Govender to compete in Miss Universe

South African Tamil Bryoni Govender, was recently named Miss Universe South Africa 2023.

The 26-year-old lawyer and model from Johannesburg will represent South Africa this November at Miss Universe in El Salvador, where 80 countries will be competing in the international pageant.

What sets Bryoni apart is her unwavering passion for education and empowerment.

“I want to exemplify the notion that ‘empowered women empower women’ by using my voice and lived experience of never giving up on my dreams and refusing to allow others to narrate my story,” Govender said.

At the recently concluded Miss South Africa 2023 national pageant in Pretoria, Natasha Joubert was crowned the winner. Since Natasha has already joined Miss Universe 2020 and rules do not allow her to participate again, Bryoni who finished as first runner-up was named as Miss Universe South Africa 2023.
