Redhanded, an award winning true-crime podcast by Suruthi Bala & Hannah Maguire

In 2017, after meeting at a house party, Suruthi Bala & Hannah Maguire, who share an obsession for all things true crime recorded their first murder podcast inside a violin cupboard.

By 2019, they were able to leave their jobs to focus full-time on the weekly podcast – the duo offer a dose of murder, wit and “wtfs” delivered with all the facts, anecdotal tangents aplenty, serious societal scrutiny and real British flavour.

The two-time British Podcast Awards champions, and Amazon Music’s Best Podcast of the Year for 2022, Redhanded has 200,000 weekly listeners, a best-selling book and successful live world tours.

After completing their sell-out European tour and with double the listeners across the pond, a North America tour was inevitable. This month, Suruthi and Hannah completed their 15 city EmptyHanded tour, which started in Seattle and ended in New York.

Filthy Ritual, which launched this week on Global player, is the duo’s latest project – a new 6 part series about one of the most prolific fraudsters in British history. Hannah and Suruthi will uncover and unpick a shocking and almost unbelievable story about a charming, enchanting and mysterious woman called Juliette D’Souza, who claimed she could perform miracles.

At the turn of the 21st century in Hampstead, one of London’s most wealthy and well-known suburbs, Juliette D’Souza wreaked havoc on a number of people’s lives. Described by her neighbours as being like ‘a knife in a velvet glove’, D’Souza claimed to have a special connection to an ancient source of power and wisdom, deep in the Amazonian jungle. She made at least one million pounds, possibly much more, through extortion and manipulation, becoming one of the most prolific con women in British history.
