Gangs of Tooting Broadway – out on DVD!

Tooting Broadway – or, "Gangs of Tooting Broadway" as it has been renamed – is now available for purchase on DVD! The crime/thriller film is the first feature-length British film that features the Tamil community in the UK.

Set in 2009, the film follows the story of Arun, whose estranged mother reaches out to him in an attempt to stop his younger brother from making a bad decision. To add to things, a seemingly meaningless murder ends up having a profound effect on Arun and his family. Over the next 24 hours, Arun must put things right and his loyalties are tested, threatening to change Arun’s world as he knows it.

The film stars a number of British actors, including two British Tamils Gary Pillai and Kabelan Verlkumar. The film has been directed by Devanand Shanmugam with a screenplay by Joshua Clement, and has been written by British Sri Lankan, Tikri Hulugalle.

Gangs of Tooting Broadway has already been around the world, having been screened at the 14th Mumbai Film Festival, in Amsterdam at the Indian Film Festival and at the London Indian Film Festival 2012.

We were excited to learn that Kabelan has just wrapped up his second feature film, entitled "Jayden". The young actor took to Facebook to thank Ameet Chana, Kavi Shastri, Antony Costa, Kulvinder Ghir, Izzy and others, say that "it has been a pleasure". We look forward to hearing more about this project in the upcoming months!
