We are celebrating Thai Pongal, the annual Tamil harvest festival with a traditional pure vegetarian feast served on a banana leaf.
Pongal feast 2019 is an initiative by Thamarai to showcase Tamil vegetarian & vegan cuisine in London. For this, we have teamed up with Sambal Kitchen & Diner in South Harrow.
Recently featured as one of “The Best Sri Lankan Restaurants in London” by Eater Magazine, Sambal Kitchen & Diner is a hidden gem in North West London. Popular with the Tamil community, the diner has been recently refurbished and is frequented regularly for their wide selection of curries, appam (also know as hoppers), dosa & lumprais.
Sambal is preparing a Pongal feast which includes 12 items served on a banana leaf. Available during lunch for £7.50

What is Thai Pongal
Dedicated to the Sun, Thai Pongal is one of the most important festivals celebrated by the Tamil people. This year the four-day Tamil harvest festival begins on Tuesday 15th January and ends on the 18th of January. Celebrations will be held in Tamil Nadu in Southern India, Sri Lanka and amongst Tamils worldwide, including those in Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, South Africa, North America & Europe.
