Whilst the question of mixing sports and politics is one that has been greatly debated recently, what about the mixing of art and politics?
Take for example, the video for "Island Queen", the latest track by Malaysian Tamil reggae artist, Sasi the Don, and British reggae vocalist Maxi Priest. But, with allegations of human rights violations being thrown its way, should Sri Lanka be portrated as the ideal destination? This video was shot last year, before the recent flare of allegations against the country.
Over in the world of sport, players including Sri Lankan Tamil Muttiah Muralitharan have said that sports and politics shouldn’t mix…should that be the case for arts as well?
