The British Tamil community cordially invites you to celebrate Thai Pongal and the declaration of January as Tamil Heritage Month by the London Assembly.
Thai Pongal is a harvest festival indigenous to the Tamil community and has been proudly celebrated for centuries. Today, it is observed by Tamils worldwide.
On the 2nd of December 2021, the London Assembly unanimously called for the declaration of January as Tamil Heritage Month. To celebrate this huge achievement, this year, the British Tamil community is holding ‘Pongal in Westminster’, right in the heart of London.
Enjoy an evening of cultural performances, traditional sweets and festivities, and a chance to celebrate Thai Pongal alongside MPs and the wider Tamil community.
