South Indian martial arts meets American hip hop – Higher

South India’s martial arts are some of the oldest in the world. According to Chinese legend it is also the birth place of Bhodhi Dharma, a 5th century monk who trained the shaolin monks, which led to the creation of Shaolinquan.

Higher is the new single by American hip hop producer ‘Just Blaze’ & Harlem Shake producer ‘Baauer’. Featuring vocals by popular American rapper JAY-Z, the director has portrayed the South Indian martial arts form in the music video cum short-film.

The director Nabil traveled to Kerala in southern India where with the help of the master & students of the Vishwabharath Kalari Sangam he filmed ‘Kalaripayattu’ warriors in training.
